![Burj Al Babas is a captivating tale of ambition turned eerie abandonment in #Bolu, #Turkey. Initially conceived by Dubai’s Sarot Property Group in 2014, this project aimed to create a lavish village of 732 castle-like homes with amenities like a shopping center and Turkish baths, all on a $200 million budget. Although 587 houses, indistinguishable from one another, were constructed with prices starting at $310,000, the dream was short-lived.
In 2018, financial troubles struck, leading to a halt in construction. Despite assurances of completion by 2021, the development remains deserted, now an intriguing attraction for tourists. Sarot Group faced legal challenges for environmental harm, including forestland damage and tree removal. Locals also voiced discontent, as the castle homes clashed with the traditional architectural landscape of the area.
