![Immeuble Lavirotte was built between 1900 and 1901, and it is famous for its Art Nouveau facade in line with the work of Gaudí in Barcelona.
It was the first time that Paris had seen a facade appear using so many ceramics. But, the centerpiece of this facade is the carved solid wood and iron front door, framed by undulating foliage that climbs over the overhanging face of a woman. Very few have noticed that the door is an inverted phallus. You have to isolate the central part of the wooden door, the central glass part, and the two oval-shaped glass areas at the top of the door to see only that.
