Ewww! Gross! These are not usually the reactions I’m going for when I bake one of my novelty cakes. But when it comes to my zombielicious Brain Cake, it’s music to my ears!
I’ve been baking for 18 years, and my YouTube show “How To Cake It” lets me unleash my passion for cake decorating in a whole new way. I’m working my way through my caking bucket list. I’ve always wanted to make all the cakes but never had the opportunity to. If I can make someone say, “Is that a CAKE?!” I know I’ve done my job 🙂
My Brain Cake episode was inspired by The Walking Dead premiere this week. Zombies deserve a premiere celebration too! I whipped them up a blood-red velvet Brain Cake with ropes of brainy fondant oozing with seedless raspberry jam. Why should humans have all the fun?
Carve your deep red velvet cake into a brain shape
Shower it in simple syrup. Have to keep that brain fresh and moist!
Roll your fondant into ropes, and twizzle it into brain tissue. Yes, twizzle is the technical term.
Cover your Brain Cake in raspberry jam. Get in all the nooks and crannies. Don’t be afraid to splatter
Invite your undead friends over for a feast.
Bonus points if you eat your Brain Cake with your hands. Zombies aren’t so good with forks!

Initially conceived by Dubai’s Sarot Property Group in 2014, this project aimed to create a lavish village of 732 castle-like homes with amenities like a shopping center and Turkish baths, all on a $200 million budget. Although 587 houses, indistinguishable from one another, were constructed with prices starting at $310,000, the dream was short-lived.
In 2018, financial troubles struck, leading to a halt in construction. Despite assurances of completion by 2021, the development remains deserted, now an intriguing attraction for tourists. Sarot Group faced legal challenges for environmental harm, including forestland damage and tree removal. Locals also voiced discontent, as the castle homes clashed with the traditional architectural landscape of the area.
